Hi Alistair.  Text below.  I will also ask the UK fed people to add it to the JSTOR service page when it goes live.

Dear Colleagues:

As you may know, JSTOR is preparing to offer institutional access via Shibboleth to members of the UK Federation. We have undergone successful testing with a few UK federation member institutions, and are hoping to make the service live next week.

In advance of making the service available, we would like to let you know of one particular requirement. Once we have configured your institutional record for Shibboleth access to JSTOR, your Attribute Authority will need to authorize users into JSTOR by asserting the eduperson entitlement attribute with a value of urn:mace:dir:entitlement:common-lib-terms. This entitlement value should be set for those users who qualify under the terms of the JSTOR license agreement. Generally, this includes students and staff (active and retired), but it can also include "library walk-ins", if those users have some way of authenticating using Shibboleth.

The official description of the entitlement value can be found here:

http://middleware.internet2.edu/urn-mace/urn-mace-dir-entitlement.html

Please do not hesitate to contact JSTOR Tech Support ([log in to unmask]) if you have any questions. We look forward to announcing the availability of the live Shibboleth service very soon.

Best regards,

Kristen Garlock
