Digital project manager – Centre of the Cell

 

Centre of the Cell is an interactive science centre for children aged 9 to 16 due to open in March 2009. Production of the main interactive components is due to start soon.  We are looking for someone to manage the production of these interactives along with managing development of the website and its integration with the exhibition.

 

You will have knowledge of the use of digital media in a museums / exhibition context.  You will have experience of working closely with both content producers, developers and an appreciation of the design process.  You would need to be able to work independently to tight deadlines and some flexibility in working arrangements is possible.  

 

Duties include:

• Ensuring main interactive components are delivered on time and to budget.
• Ensuring interactive re-versioning is completed on time and to budget
• Ensuring website, in particular the booking system, is fit for purpose and ready for launch of exhibition.
• Acting as technical/multimedia advisor to the whole team
• Acting as main point of contact for liaison between technical developers and the University computing / network services.
• Acting as main point of contact with all digital contractors, lead designers and graphic designers for all digital output.
• Writing technical and design briefs for web and interactive developers.
• Work with the content developer to ensure that interactives meet the desired learning outcomes.
• Ensure that interactives are of the highest quality and meet desired level of accessibility.
• Working with the Learning and Access staff to co-ordinate evaluation of learning materials and ensure interactive developers make appropriate changes.
• Ensure that all changes made based on evaluation are appropriate, in terms of accessibility and technical development, and are possible within the limits of the schedule.

 

 

Contract type:

Freelance-based 6 month contract, starting in early September.  

 

Salary:

£25,000 - £30,000 pro rata
