Dear Colleagues:

We are pleased to have the opportunity to bring the 12th International
Conference on Travel Behaviour Research, organized by the International
Association for Travel Behaviour Research (IATBR), to the culturally
rich city of Jaipur in India. The conference will be held from December
13th to December 18th, 2009.

The IATBR conference series is well recognized as the flagship event for
travel behaviour researchers from around the world, and this 12th
conference in the series marks the first time that the conference will
be held in the Indian subcontinent. It is indeed a very opportune time
to hold the conference in a developing country of the "East", given the
fast growing and emerging economies in this part of the world. We look
forward to the sharing of ideas, leading-edge research and development
discussions, networking, and collective learning among researchers with
an interest in travel behaviour during an era of important global issues
and challenges.

In addition to the conference itself, we do hope you will use the
opportunity to explore and experience the incredible and fascinating
diversity/cultural heritage that is India. We will have planned cultural
events during the conference, and will be working to provide guidance
regarding possible travel itineraries and travel arrangements for those
of you who may be able to spend some time in India before or after the
conference.

The conference web site is http://www.iatbr2009.org, which will serve as
a one-stop site for all information and event details related to the
conference. We will periodically update the information at the site.
Please also find attached, for your convenience, a one page Call for
Abstracts. Do note that the deadline for abstract submissions is October
31, 2008. We hope you will seriously consider submitting abstracts based
on your ongoing travel behaviour-related research. Also, please feel
free to share the call with friends and colleagues.

For those of you interested in helping to support the conference through
sponsorships, please see the section on "sponsorship" on the right side
of the home page. Sponsorships will be used to support expenses,
including subsidization of registration fees for student attendees,
receptions and special events, and local transportation arrangements. A
variety of sponsorship levels and corresponding benefits are available.

We look forward to receiving your abstracts and seeing many of you in
Jaipur.

Sincerely,
Chandra Bhat and Ram Pendyala
Co-Chairs, IATBR 2009
