Hi Sue,
My opinion is that it is still a very
relevant question. It may well be that the person could have recovered
completely, but it is still worth knowing from an employment point of view if
they are at any increased risk of developing the problem again.

We
have a question on our pre-employment health declaration form that asks '
have you ever left or been denied employment in any other organisation on
grounds of ill-health, unsatisfactory attendance or been medically retired on
grounds of ill-health?'
I
have recently had someone tick yes to this question and stated that they had
been medically retired in 1995.
My
opinion is that there should be a reasonable cut-off time as do I really need
to know what happened 13 years ago. Can anyone advise.
