I'd think a cut-off time would not be appropriate as it all depends on the health reason for retirement (rather than the facth he officially retired on health grounds) and if it is still relevant for fitness for work for the current post.

Dear All,

We have a question on  our pre-employment health declaration form that asks ' have you ever left or been denied employment in any other organisation on grounds of ill-health, unsatisfactory attendance or been medically retired on grounds of ill-health?'

I have recently had someone tick yes to this question and stated that they had been medically retired in 1995.

My opinion is that there should be a reasonable cut-off time as do I really need to know what happened 13 years ago.  Can anyone advise.

Regards,

Sue.
