Supporting Researchers in the Social Sciences

 

Thursday 24th and Friday 25th July 2008

Queen's University Belfast

 

Do you provide library support for social science researchers? If so we hope you will come to Belfast to hear from a range of speakers with experience of providing or using information services and resources in the social sciences. Presentations include:

 

Ignorance and Arrogance? The Academic Systematic Review and the role of the Information Professional - Alan Gomersall 

 

ARK: Access, Research and Knowledge - Paula Divine (Research Director of ARK)

 

Researchers in Government - John Power  (Head of Research Services, NI Assembly) / Tim Moore ( Senior Researcher, NI Assembly)

 

Helping Google-age researchers to get the most out of using online  - Jane Ferguson or Rebecca Ursell (IBSS)

 

 

This is a 2 day event which includes visits to the unique Linen Hall Library and Northern Ireland Parliament Buildings

Cost of the event

 

Day delegate on Thursday 24th (This  includes a buffet lunch and  tea/coffee)

 

ALISS Members    £50

 

Non-Members       £60. 

 

Evening Dinner      £30 

 

 

Friday 25th

 

Tours of Linenhall Library and Stormont are free of charge. Transport to and from venues is not included in the cost of the event but will be payable by individuals on the day. (Estimated taxi costs £5.00 per person)
