Hi,

This is advance notice of a change of name and remit for lis-e-journals
which will take place from the 1st July 2008.

The lis-e-resources discussion list is the new name for lis-e-journals, a
list owned and managed by the UKSG, which was initially set up to discuss
matters relating to e-journal provision and management. Lis-e-resources now
officially extends the scope to include all e-resources (e-journals,
e-books, databases, web services) which can be purchased, leased on
subscription models, or available on open access. It complements the
Electronic Resource Management Handbook - a free, Open Access publication
available from the UKSG website (http://www.uksg.org/serials#handbook).

Current members of lis-e-journals will be automatically migrated to the new
list, however you are advised to amend your email address book from the 1st
July 2008 to ensure you can post to the new list. For others, please email
[log in to unmask] for details, or visit
www.jiscmail.ac.uk/lis-e-resources.

Although related to UKSG, lis-e-resources is not intended to be a
UK-specific list and currently has a significant number of members from
other parts of the world.

Membership of the list is open to all sectors involved in the area of
e-resources: currently we have information professionals from universities
and colleges, commercial organisations, health services and hospitals, and
government; a range of publishers and organisations dedicated to supporting
publisher/library services; intermediaries including subscription agents and
vendors of e-resource management products; and interested individuals
without a specific affiliation.

Members of lis-e-resources are encouraged to participate in discussions, to
raise questions and issues, to engage with colleagues from other sectors -
no question or post is too insignificant as long as it is directly related
to e-resources. More general posts relating to publishing product
development, staffing announcements, resource provision, or information
sharing may be sent to Serials eNews or to other appropriate JISCMail lists
(lis-link, lis-serials etc).

If there is any doubt on the suitability of a post for lis-e-resources, you
should contact the list owners directly and they would be delighted to
assist (Lesley Crawshaw - [log in to unmask] or Louise Cole -
[log in to unmask]) or visit the JISCMAIL instructions at
http://www.jiscmail.ac.uk/help/policy/index.htm which detail the acceptable
use policy.

Archives of lis-e-journals will still be available for viewing after the
migration of the membership list on 1st July, and any emails sent to the old
list will automatically be forwarded to the new one.

If you have any comments or queries, please do not hesitate to contact the
list owners.

Cheers

Lesley
