Sarah Durrant appointed Secretary General of the ASA Sarah Durrant will take up the position of Secretary General of the Association of Subscription Agents and Intermediaries with effect from July 1, 2008. Sarah brings a wealth of relevant experience to the ASA from her previous work with publishing companies and intermediaries. Sarah is well known in the industry not just for her consultancy work but also from her previous career with INASP, negotiating with publishers for country-wide access to online scholarly information on behalf of some of the world's poorest countries. Previously Sarah was Sales Manager at Ingenta and also worked in e-journals development and marketing for John Wiley & Sons and Academic Press. Sarah will continue to run her successful consultancy - Red Sage Consulting - through which she undertakes research, sales and marketing, and business development projects for organisations within the scholarly information industry. Sarah is based in the UK and will work from her office in Suffolk. Sarah will be taking over from Rollo Turner, who has been the Secretary general for the last ten years. Rollo says "I am really glad Sarah has decided to take on this role as she will bring a wealth of new experience to the ASA as the industry enters another period of very rapid change. I wish her every success and I am sure the members will benefit from her keen insight, drive and enthusiasm." Rollo will be leaving the ASA to pursue his own publishing interests in the field of motorcycling and will continue to take on the occasional consultancy role.
