Position: GIS Trainer
Location: London
Rate: £200 per day
Duration: 6 Months +
 
My London based client has a requirement for a GIS Trainer on 6 month + 
contract with interview slots next week.
 
Key Deliverables:
• Maintenance of a Communication Plan
• Production of the Training Plan
• Production and implementation of communication materials required and 
agreed for internal and external stakeholders – (employees, support staff, 
general public)
• Production and implementation of training materials for users and 
support teams
• Standardisation of all training materials. 
• Implementation and co-ordination of training sessions required for 
employees
• Production of public feedback material
• Production of presentation materials for engaging and informing 
stakeholders
• Ensure all users and support teams are pre-informed of any system 
changes and go-live plans
• Day-to-day change activities required for successful completion of the 
project
 
Key Activities:
• Planning, facilitating and delivering successful business changes across 
the business.  This is mainly regarding the use of geographical 
information for service planning and evidence based policies.  
• Managing a wide range of stakeholders at all levels – internal and 
external
• Training and communication delivery 
• Change impact and readiness assessments
 
Technical competency / Tools to be used:
• MS Office Suite – (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook) XP and 2003
• MS-Publisher 2003
• MS-Project 98 & 2003
• Visio Standard 2003
• Adobe Acrobat 6
• MapInfo, ESRI
 
Competencies 

Essential:
• 1½ + years experience in managing the full change elements for a project 
within a multi-functional organisation
• Managing a wide range of stakeholders at all levels – internal and 
external to the organisation
• Ability to produce and manage training and communications deliverables
• Strong risk management skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to write clear, well structured and precise project documentation
• Ability to gather information from a number of internal and external 
sources
• Confident in working within a changing environment where all the answers 
may not be known up-front
• Confidence to work with knowledgeable people at all levels
• Experience in working in multi-disciplined team – (customer, supplier, 
contractors and consultants)
• Ability to grasp technical information quickly
• Experience in delivering a technology-driven change project

Highly Desirable:
• Previous experience of working on projects within a Consultancy
• PRINCE 2 Certification
• Experience or knowledge of working with geographical and web based 
systems
• Working knowledge of MapInfo, ESRI systems
• Good understanding of Oracle database
• Use of Quality Assurance techniques
• Use of process re-engineering techniques
• Knowledge of MapInfo, ESRI, and/or AutoCAD
