Many thanks Rob for compiling this. As you all know I see this as a critical
part of the training for young geo-scientists and in my view its one where
we need to refocus a considerable part our our attention if we are to help
address the increasing problems of resources and sequestration facing our
societies. Despite being "forthright and jaundiced" I do remain optimistic!!
And there was me thinking I'd mellowed.....

Subject: Guide to fieldwork

Members of the geotectonics list may recall that back in September 07 there
was a brief discussion on the list prompted by the question: "why do
fieldwork"?
As explained at the time - I was asking for responses to add a bit of spice
to a booklet I was preparing on field teaching....
Well - it's now out:
Teaching Geoscience through Fieldwork.
It's available freely online via the GEES Subject Centre:

http://www.gees.ac.uk/pubs/guides/eesguides.htm#fwgeosciguide

You can also order printed copies direct from the site.
I hope there are aspects people will find useful - notwithstanding the UK
focus!

Best wishes
Rob
