Milestones - Hampshire's living history museum - uses audioguides as part of its interpretation. There's no set route through the museum (recreated Victorian and 30s/40s streets) and there's an option to get a deeper level of information for some objects and displays too, so it's nicely layered. They also have an audioguide programme for KS1, lower KS2 and upper KS2 pupils which is linked to the National Curriculum. They offer Victorians for KS1 and 2, and Britain Since 1930 for KS2. Victorians has 5 topics (or you can mix and match from across the topics to make your own programme) and Britain Since 1930 has 2 (again, you can choose from across both to make your own programme). I think the scripts for the programmes are available on the school part of their website. www.milestones-museum.com Both the family and school audioguides were produced working with Acoustiguide www.acoustiguide.com Best wishes Ruth Ruth Kerr Senior Education Officer Learning, Access & Interpretation Team Chilcomb House, Chilcomb Lane, Winchester, Hampshire, SO23 8RD T 01962 826706 F 01962 869836 Hampshire Museums & Archives Service Department of Recreation and Heritage Hampshire County Council Explore Hampshire Museums In May... www.museummayhem.co.uk/ <http://www.museummayhem.co.uk/> ________________________________ From: List for discussion of issues in museum education in the UK. And are they available on the internet? Many thanks Claire Claire Adler Museum Learning Consultant 268 Cherry Hinton Road Cambridge CB1 7AU TEL: 01223 411555 Email: [log in to unmask]
