The Oluympus DS range tend to set the standard for voice recorders and tend to be the most regularly recommended. It will however depend if the student has any special requirements (e.g. dexterity issues visual impairment etc) as buttons are a little small but on the whole they're great little recorders. Prices vary depending on model, DS-30 is entry level but only real diffrence is recording time.
