The Public and Environmental Health Research Unit wishes to appoint a 
statistician to collaborate on a newly-funded project "Modelling effects 
of weather on health from time series data." The primary duties of the 
project will be to pursue research, under supervision, to address the 
objectives of that project.

The post will also involve teaching of postgraduate students at the School.

The successful applicant requires an aptitude for both methodological and 
applied research and statistical computing experience. Good communication 
skills are a prerequisite. A PhD in statistics or a related discipline, or 
equivalent experience, is required. Experience of working in a research 
environment and a publication record are desirable.

The appointment is available for 32 months, starting not later than 1 
October 2008. Salary will be on the Research Fellow grade 6 scale (£33,518-
£38,084) p.a. inclusive as at 1 May 2008. The successful applicant will be 
placed on the scale according to relevant qualifications. The post-holder 
will be managed by Dr Ben Armstrong.
