Division of Health and Social Care Research

The Division of Health and Social Care Research (HSCR) comprises over fifty 
Principal Investigators in the Schools of Medicine, Biomedical Science, 
Nursing and Midwifery and Social Science and Public Policy, with 
collaborations with other Schools in King’s College London and links with 
the local NHS Primary and Secondary Care Trusts.

The goal of Health Service Research at KCL is to improve the quality of 
services and health outcomes through research relating to individual 
clinical needs, service delivery and organisation and the wider social 
context of care. We undertake programmes of basic and translational 
research and evaluations of service and policy implementation in five main 
areas: 1) services for specific diseases and conditions; 2) services for 
specific population groups; 3) professional providers of health and social 
care; 4) quality of service provision; and 5) innovation and change.

We have an exciting opportunity and seek applications from suitably 
qualified and experienced candidates who are keen to build on our research 
strengths and contribute to the development and future success of our 
Division.

This post involves a teaching and commitment, including contributing to the 
undergraduate work of the Division and to the Masters courses in Public 
Health and Primary Health Care and training in the BRC. You will be 
expected to strengthen and broaden the multidisciplinary approach to Health 
Services Research and the development and evaluation of complex 
interventions and analysis of large datasets. The Division is particularly 
interested in expanding its interests in stroke, vascular diseases and 
diabetes and developing and extending use of large datasets, such as the 
General Practice Research Database (GPRD) and chronic disease registers, 
such as the South London Stroke Register, to identify potential complex 
interventions for evaluation. You will help develop innovative ways of 
delivering a statistical consultancy service to researchers.

This is a permanent post and can be recruited at Senior Lecturer level, 
Reader level or Personal Chair. Salary will be Grade 8; £44,074 to £51,095 
per annum plus £2,323 per annum London Weighting Allowance.
