Dear All,

May I suggest that the effort currently being expended on the history of the acb logo, may be more productively used in finding jobs in the profession for the junior members. Without effective succession planning the logo “issue” seems a bit pointless as we will no longer have a “brand” to sell.

I think this discussion would have added value if some (dare I say it) younger people could also join in. The logo will be your logo the next time this debate may be raised. Enjoyable/stimulating input so far!

The spiral looks like an old (very old!) AA1 mixing coil viewed end-on - but perhaps I'm just showing my age!

Wow! This discussion made me take a look at the AACC logo for the first time. I don't have a clue what the spiral is supposed to mean - a hurricane?; a QC target? Certainly it (the spiral by itself) would not make anyone in the lay public or a clinical chemist think of clinical chemistry or laboratory medicine. AACC by itself could mean American Association of College Cheerleaders. I guess you have to take the logo in its entirety, including "Improving healthcare through laboratory medicine." -Jim
