(Our apologies for multiple postings of this message) ====================================================================== LAST CALL FOR PAPERS Knowledge Engineering for Planning and Scheduling (KEPS) ====================================================================== -----An International Workshop to be co-located with ICAPS'08 -----Selected papers for the Journal to be published in a -----Special Issues of the Knowledge Engineering Review Sydney, Australia September 14 or 15, 2008 http://kti.mff.cuni.cz/~bartak/KEPS2008/ Despite the progress in automated planning and scheduling systems, these systems still need to be fed by problem description and they need to be fine tuned for particular domains or problems. Knowledge engineering for AI planning and scheduling deals with the acquisition, validation and maintenance of domain models, and the selection and optimization of appropriate machinery to work on them. The importance of knowledge engineering techniques is clearly demonstrated by a performance gap between domain- independent planners and planners exploiting domain dependent knowledge. The workshop shall continue a short tradition of KEPS competitions, however rather than focusing on software tools only, we would like to cover all aspects of knowledge engineering for AI planning and scheduling. Submissions may be regular papers of up to 8 pages or short position papers (at most 2 pages). All papers should conform to the AAAI style template (http://www.aaai.org/Publications/Author/macros-link.html). Submissions will be reviewed by at least two referees. Interested contributors are invited to communicate their intent to submit to the workshop organizers. Submissions, in PDF format only, should be sent by email to workshop organizers at keps08 (at) ktiml.mff.cuni.cz using the subject line "KEPS2008 Submission". Workshop participants should be registered for ICAPS'08 or a co-located conference.
