Research Associate (36 months fixed-term) Intelligent Map Matching Department of Civil and Building Engineering Loughborough University (Ref: CV/12951) Role Type: Research Closing Date: Monday 02 June 2008 Starting Salary: £25,888 - £27,466 per annum This post within the Transport Studies Group of the Department of Civil and Building Engineering offers an exciting opportunity to undertake post- doctoral research on a new three-year Engineering and Physical Science Research Council (EPSRC) project. This project involves the development of high accuracy and high integrity in-car navigation systems suitable for liability and safety critical applications such as distance-based congestion charging, “pay-as-you-drive” insurance schemes, and accident and emergency (A&E) responses. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to closely work with the project partner, Helios Technology Ltd. – a leading company in positioning and navigation solutions. Applicants should be educated to PhD level or have equivalent research experience. A PhD and / or research experience in positioning and navigation would be an advantage. Experience in the writing of computer programming (C/C++ or Matlab) is essential. The post is available from 1 July 2008 or as soon as possible thereafter.
