You are invited to apply for a new position as Lecturer in Media (Professional/ Management Communications) at the University of Stirling. Working within the Department of Film, Media & Journalism, you will be suitably qualified to pursue research and to teach in the field of professional communications. A central focus of the post is on strengthening the Department’s current developments in public communications, which are being led by the new Stirling Media Research Institute Masters programme in Public Communications Management. The MSc in Public Communications Management is a multi-disciplinary programme aimed at those who wish to develop professional communications competencies in a range of strategic contexts. It has a major focus on public affairs, international communications and strategic management and includes specialisms such as advertising, marketing, events management, fund-raising and speech-writing. Applicants should have research and teaching experience and expertise in fields enabling them to contribute to areas of the Department’s work which might include public relations, advertising, media management and journalism. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate well-developed organisational skills, and the self-motivation requisite for assuming a central role in delivering this innovative programme. Basic software skills are essential. Experience of using WebCT or similar instructional packages would be an advantage but is not essential. Experience of teaching public relations or related subject areas is desirable. This is a full-time, permanent position which will commence on 1st September 2008 or as soon as possible thereafter.
