I might have guessed that Kingsford Community School was behind this praiseworthy initiative.  Your department is easily the best in the country.  I’ve seen your pupils perform at the SOAS New Year party several years in succession.

 

Just to let you know that, on my Head Teacher’s instructions, the appeal I make in tomorrow’s assembly (slideshow attached, in case you’d like to use it) will actually be on behalf of the British Red Cross.  He thinks (wisely) that our parents will be reluctant to make cheques out to an organization they haven’t heard of.  Sorry.  But the donations I send on will still make a difference, one hopes.  Time is of the essence!

Thank you for your e-mail.  Cheques to CBTTA seem like the best solution for our school.  I need to get something organized quickly.  However, I also need to be sure that the money raised really is going to help the victims, otherwise parents will be reluctant to send me donations.  I tried contacting CBTTA on their website, but although I filled in one of their forms, asking them for reassurance, there was no ‘connectivity’---not a very encouraging start.  How can I be sure that when cheques are sent to Dr Daniel Lee, they’ll really get to those suffering in Sichuan (a province I love)?  Please reply quickly.

5月12日14点28分中国四川省汶川县发生了里氏7.8级强烈地震，灾区人民生命财产遭受了重大损失，伤亡人数不断上升。我们无法控制地震发生，但我们积极应对，温家宝总理第一时间感到灾区现场指挥就在工作。

身在海外的同胞们、华夏的炎黄子孙们，在这次灾难面前我们国内的同胞在流血、流泪，他们还在坚持，他们还在努力自救。 灾害无情人有情，一方有难八方支援，他们与我们血浓于水血脉相连，国籍可以改变，理念可以不同，信仰可以冲突，但是乡音无法改，身上流淌的依然还是华夏儿女的血液，中华儿女的烙印永远无法抹去。祖国是每个炎黄子孙魂牵梦绕的无尽牵挂。

 

英国四川同乡会、中英科技贸易协会和英国4.19活动筹委会仅此向全英广大华侨华人发出倡议，向祖国灾区中的同胞们伸出援助之手，让血脉再相连。

 

自昨天英国四川同乡会和中英科技贸易协会联合发出募捐倡议以来,陆续收到大量的回馈及善款.现就部分咨询问题做统一答复:

 

A. 关于捐款账户的来源及善款去向?

在英国，如果大家把钱捐给在英国注册的慈善机构的账户的话，按照英国的法律规定可以获得英国政府28％返税善款.也就是说如果您捐给慈善团体100镑的话，实际您给受助对象捐的款项总额将为128镑。

中英科技贸易协会(www.cbtta.org.uk)是在英国注册的正规慈善机构,其银行账户就是这样一个慈善团体的账户，您把钱捐到该帐户，中英科技贸易协会向英国政府申告28%的退税,同时把钱捐给中国大使馆，但是这样就可以使捐给中国的款项的总额增加28％。

 

B. 关于捐款数目多少问题?

捐款数目多少不是问题,即使捐1磅也是您良好的心意和很大的善举!因为1磅钱也许就够地震灾区的孩子们喝上一天的纯净水或者吃上一顿饱饭了.

 

C.捐款注意事项:
