The Swedish School of Library and Information Science searches University Professor of Library and Information Science Fulltime, conditional tenure Place of work: Borås, Sweden Registration nr: 169-08-40 The department of Library and Information Science searches a professor, full or associate, with a comprehensive and well documented experience of research and education. Work responsibilities include teaching at the undergraduate, master’s and Ph.D. levels, conducting and publishing research, and supervising doctoral students. We expect the successful applicant to be able to contribute to the development of educational programs, research and research image of the department and the University College. We also expect the successful applicant to have contacts and co-operation with companies and organisations from the professional field. Usually, teaching and Ph.D. student supervision correspond to about 50 percent of the employment for a full professor and 75 percent for an associate professor. Applicants should have a doctoral degree in library and information science or a closely related area. Formal requirements for a professor include documented skill in research and teaching methods. For an associate professor we require, apart from the doctoral degree, a pedagogic education at the university level (15 ECTS) or equivalent knowledge, i.e., documented experience of research and teaching, including expertise in teaching is required. In addition, applicants should have documented research experience focusing on information use, the interaction between users and information technology, or other research expertise that is in line with, or complements, the research areas of the department. Interdisciplinary collaboration with other researchers and professionals within and outside the academy, as well as a documented ability to obtain and conduct externally financed research projects are sought. We also seek individuals who have broad interest for both basic and applied research and for development work. The qualifications for employment as professor can be found in the Higher Education Ordinance, chapter 4, section 5. Equal importance should be attached to expertise in research and teaching methods. A documented ability to conduct research activities and to duly inform about research and development work is also important.
