The Open University has just advertised a permanent lectureship in
Classical Studies, we have a preference for someone with expertise in
visual/material culture which is why I'm sending it to this list. Please
pass the message on to anyone you know who might be interested in applying.

With best wishes,
Phil Perkins

Lectureship in Classical Studies, Faculty of Arts

Available from 1 October 2008 (or as soon as possible thereafter), based in
Milton Keynes

£34,793 – £41,545

You will have a good first degree (or equivalent) in Classics, Classical
Studies, Ancient History, Classical Archaeology or a related subject. You
will also have, or will be about to obtain, a doctoral degree, and will
have a record of published research, or evidence of forthcoming
publications, and firm plans for future research. We have a preference for
someone with expertise in visual/material culture, but the position is open
to people with a research specialism in any area of Classical Studies. You
will be expected to teach across a range of areas other than your research
specialism, including Greek and/or Latin language.

An understanding of the nature of the Faculty’s courses and of the needs of
adult learners is desirable. The Faculty has a strong commitment to
collective working in teaching and research and we encourage applications
from those who want to work in such a culture.

Closing date: 23 May 2008.
Interview date: 17 July 2008.

Further particulars and application forms are available at
