Jobs In Information Retrieval/Multimedia Mining and
Retrieval/Multi-modal Interaction and Retrieval/Research Programmers (7
posts)

The Information Retrieval group at the University of Glasgow, led by
Professor Keith van Rijsbergen, plays a leading role in the
international information retrieval community. Research is based on both
theory and experiment, aiming at giving end-users novel, effective, and
efficient access to the world of multi-media information.

The Department of Computing Science provides a world leading environment
for research, with research focused in 7 groups (Bioinformatics,
Computer Vision & Graphics, Embedded, Networked, and Distributed
Systems, Formal Analysis, Theory and Algorithms, Human Computer
Interaction, Information Retrieval and Software Engineering and
Technology).

We are looking for dynamic researchers or research programmers to take
part in our externally funded research projects. You will take part in
the research activities of the multimedia information retrieval group.
Current research activities of the group focus around three themes:
multi-modal interaction & retrieval; personalization and
context-sensitive retrieval; modelling and mining of multimedia data.

These jobs will suit fresh graduates (with a first or a good 2/1 Honours
degree in computing or related disciplines) who have an interest in
research. There will be opportunities to pursue MSc by research degree
or PhD. We are also planning to hire post-doctoral researchers. For
details about the application please visit,
