NATIONAL PERINATAL EPIDEMIOLOGY UNIT

 

Health Economics Researcher

Grade 7 - £27,466 to £33,780

 

Applications are sought for a new health economics research post within the National Perinatal Epidemiology Unit (NPEU), University of Oxford.  The successful applicant will join a vigorous research group specialising in methodological and applied research on economic aspects of perinatal health services, with strong collaborative links nationally and internationally. 

 

The successful applicant will work on two new major research projects: (i) an economic evaluation of a new birth centre in east London, the Barkantine Health Centre, funded by the National Institute for Health Research; and (ii) a programme of research, entitled Birthplace, which aims to assess the cost-effectiveness of alternative systems of maternity care, funded by the Department of Health’s Policy Research Programme and the NHS Service Delivery and Organisation (SDO) Programme.

 

The successful applicant will have completed a masters degree or a doctorate in health economics and, ideally, have some experience of managing health economics projects.  However, we are willing to consider candidates who have recently completed or about to complete their postgraduate studies in health economics and wish to embark on a research career. The post is available for 12 months in the first instance with a flexible start date up to autumn 2008.
