 YORK HEALTH ECONOMICS CONSORTIUM

York Health Economics Consortium (YHEC) at the University of York is looking to recruit three Research Consultants.

YHEC is a health economics research and consultancy organisation owned by the University of York.  It provides a wide range of research and consultancy services, including economic modelling, economic evaluation and applied health services research.  Organisations commissioning work include the Department of Health, NICE, NHS Trusts, other public sector research organisations (e.g. NHS Institute for Innovation and Improvement ) and a wide range of pharmaceutical and health care companies. Three vacancies currently exist:

Health Economist/Modeller  (Ref:0801) 

This is a new role within the company and is a direct result of continued expansion of economic modelling.  The position will be expected to contribute to economic evaluations commissioned by both public sector organisations and pharmaceutical/medical technology manufacturers. The post holder will lead the development of discrete economic modelling projects and take responsibility for specific elements within larger projects.  It is also expected that the post holder can take a lead on the development of statistical expertise within the unit and advise on the use of computer packages for modelling.  Applicants are expected to have experience of economic modelling, preferably in a healthcare environment.

Research Consultant (Ref:0802

The main purpose of the job is to contribute to research teams working on applied health economics or health services research projects commissioned by a range of clients. Typical tasks might include contributing to evidence synthesis, literature reviews, the development of economic models and the preparation of reports. Staff will have the opportunity to work with both public and private sector organisations. Research staff are expected to have direct contact with clients and contribute towards generating research income for the department.

Research Consultant: Information Services (Ref:0803

Recently, YHEC has appointed Julie Glanville to develop Information Services as a new area of business within the company.  The post holder will work with Julie to expand this new business area and will carry out literature searches and identify data, review health economics and clinical effectiveness evidence and summarise evidence. The projects will be commissioned by both public sector organisations and pharmaceutical/medical technology manufacturers.   The role also offers opportunities to assist in the organisation and delivery of training events.
