Are you working in a professional body to define and review the competencies for your profession? Or are you working in a higher education institution to set or apply competence standards based on guidance from professional bodies?

Places are still available for a one-day conference ‘Into the professions: enabling entry and success for disabled learners’ on June 17th 2008 at The Royal National Hotel, Russell Square, London, to bring together staff working in higher education institutions and professional bodies.

This one day conference aims to jointly explore practical issues faced in setting and implementing competence and fitness to practice standards at course or subject level, particularly in the light of the disability legislation.  It is anticipated that this event will provide an opportunity to clarify the requirements of the disability legislation and share inclusive practices that may support disabled students’ entry to and success in the professions.  This event is being held as 1 of 4 collaborative projects being undertaken by disability managers and specialists in our Inclusion Special Interest Group, led by the Higher Education Academy.

Places are limited so book now to avoid disappointment.

The full programme and details of how to book a place on this conference are available on the Higher Education Academy website: www.heacademy.ac.uk/events/detail/17_June_Into_the_professions
