Directories of learning object repositories Hi all,

This was posted to jisc-repositories but I thought i'd cross-post it here on Fred's behalf.

I'm not aware of any registries of Learning object repositories apart from those that sneak into OpenDOAR or ROAR or those we had listed on the old MDR SIG pages http://metadata.cetis.ac.uk/implementations/repositoryServices . I don't think there's many in IESR. any other thoughts? (if you have please post them to either list as I'd like to know too)

cheers,
john

Directories of learning object repositories

I suspect this might not be the best list to post this request on - if it's not I'd be grateful if someone could suggest a more appropriate forum. I'm trying to get an OAI-PMH harvester client running on a test server with the eventual aim of putting it onto a site I run (www.nottingham.ac.uk/nursing/sonet/) for our students and teachers to hunt for learning objects in remote repositories. For that, I need to a) find the repositories, which isn't so hard, and b) find their OAI-PMH service URLs, which is damned hard - I have to email each repository admin with a request.

So my request on here is: could folk point me towards LO repository directories which list the repository OAI-PMH (and for good measure, SRU/SRW) service URLs? The only one I'm aware of is OpenDOAR (http://www.opendoar.org/) which is a fine and growing effort, but is still somewhat incomplete - it doesn't, for instance, include JORUM or Intute in its list, both of which I know publish service URLs as I've got them.

There is of course OAIster, but whilst that lists contributor repositories it doesn't publish their service URLs.

Cheers

Fred
