Or any Ace inhibitor [often the statin gets blamed but the Ramipril is at fault].

Of course the difficulty is that if the patient is on a statin his GGT may be raised as a result of that.

I'm currently in discussion with DVLA and will report back.

I believe Robert Forrest is on the Advisory Panel, so I'll contact him as well.

We are also asked to do these tests for the DVLA.
I always understood that they were for drivers who had been convicted and their licence withdrawn but were coming towards the end of the term of the ban. I assume the tests help the DVLA in deciding if they can have their licence back and are using them as a measure of liver function. The DVLA may be concerned about elevations in AST in "old" samples that may make interpretation of the results more difficult.
Kind regards
Ian

People arrive in Court now with printouts from dodgy websites, often US based, advising the most outlandish ways of avoiding the charges. If you cannot prove chain of custody on this sample, it would not be admissable in any case. And anyway, normal liver function tests do not mean that the driver was not over the limit on that occasion so I fail to see why any Bench should be influenced by the results in any way. It is the alcohol level that counts.
