When I
was at Croydon the archives, local studies library and museum collections were
all on a combined CALM database. It was developed for archives so is
ISAD(g) compliant, but DS (the developers of CALM) have done a lot of work
on enhancing the museum side in recent years and they have a museum users group
who'd be able to advise.
If you
call Chris Bennett (Archivist) at Croydon on 020 8760 5400 x1112,
he'll be able to help explain the benefits and weaknesses.

At the Museum of English Rural Life,
we’re considering new cataloguing software. As our archive collections – which
we take to include photographs etc – vastly outnumber the objects, does anyone
have experience of or recommendations on a current archive ISAD compliant system
for cataloguing objects? Any thoughts welcome,
