Yes, but why should the e-Portfolio sit inside Moodle – unless you are considering ‘hard-wired’ MIS links?

I see no problem with having a generic or structured e-Portfolio format which can showcase all coursework assignments (and much more), can have links to all the VLE documents, and with all the access rights, SSO etc built in.

The whole point of an e-Portfolio is that it should be totally (and simply) portable, both from one educational level to the next and also as a student changes geographical locations. Surely one of the features of ‘ownership’ of the e-Portfolio is that the ‘A’-level student can ‘bring’ their work with them, and, after graduating, can ‘take’ their artefacts, reflections etc on to future employments etc?

And I can provide all of this at an extremely low-price for students, and with all maintenance, backups and support supplied FOC…..

Please follow the link for an ‘invitation’ to further explore the eFolio tool.

Hi Clive

There has been discussion about this on the JISC Moodle list, I think a variety of centres, ourselves included are using Moodle to receive submitted assignments and to provide feedback. The main area which is currently missing is a way of automatically referencing submitted work.

The copied and pasted sections below provide information on a variety of projects/options which may be useful. Mahara and MyStuff are both designed as e-portfolios for use within Moodle but are not NVQ specific.

[MOODLE-UK] NVQ e-portfollio development to sit in moodle.

Hi all, I know West Midlands moodle group has a working prototype. We as a service have a privately developed E-portfolio system that is running well and is saving us money, time and pleasing the awarding bodies. Obviously this has large fees attached. We are in talks with a moodle partner at present to start the development. Firstly I would like to ask if anyone knows of other developers or would like to be paid for the development. Secondly if there are other interested parties who would share the cost of the development and thus providing the FE and ACL sector with a cost free NVQ assessment management tool. If interested parties could contact me then we could set up a first meet to discuss the work mentioned and nut out in detail the definition of the moodle NVQ e-portfolio.

Many thanks

Hi Pete

I think Easy Portfolio is what you are looking for in terms of the Moodle block:

http://www.learningobjectivity.com/moodle182/ <http://www.learningobjectivity.com/moodle182/>

If you are interested in the current releases of Open Source Portfolio platforms you are welcome to evaluate these on our site:

http://portfolio.evaluation.ulcc.ac.uk/ <http://portfolio.evaluation.ulcc.ac.uk/>

This includes latest versions of Mahara, MyStuff and Elgg. Any bugs, issues, or missing functionality are within the current products, however they all functional.

 Hi

Has anyone any knowledge of a Centre using Moodle based open source software to do this job.

There are many commercial vendors such as TAG out there but a Moodle solution may be far more cost effective.

Cheers and best wishes.

Clive
