medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture

Have now watched the programme on iplayer and can only add my congratulations to the others - a very interesting story, well told and with great pictures. It was a shame that Rob Bartlett was not so well served by his producers, however interesting his story.

For the sake of those who have not seen it yet, Jon's programme is available to view for another 5 days (everyone who can should watch it and see if they can push it above 'Glamour Girls' in the chart!), the one on the canonization of Thomas Cantilupe (the Saint and the Hanged Man) for another 3, Stephen Fry and the Gutenberg Press for 4 , In Search of Medieval Wales with Dr Alixe Bovey for 2, Inside the Medieval Mind (Rob Bartlett again) for 4. I think the Medieval Heist is on tonight but not sure I can face more dramatic reconstruction.

Best wishes
Rosemary

Aah, but she clearly changed her mind and was most impressed by your stamina! Have just realised that visit of elderly aunt may mean that I cannot watch you live so I shall hope that the programme ends up on the iplayer. My profound apologies for any embarrassment caused. I hope I have raised your viewing figures by a few!

    Best

medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture 'A bit of a wimp for wearing a scarf''? Next time I'm asked to climb across the same clerestory passage/roof space/west front parapet 30 times on a wet January morning, I'll remember that one!

Actually, the scarf was the only bit of my normal attire I kept: the rest kitted out by the Beeb in a joint visit to M&S. Presenters wear certain things, it seems: a mystery beyond us mere medievalists.

Well done for spotting me. I am now acutely embarrassed.

Am I right in thinking that it is 'our' Jon Cannon who will be appearing tomorrow on BBC4 in 'How to Build at Cathedral' (9.00 pm)? It has just been highly recommended by Gillian Reynolds on BBC Radio 2. She also said that she thought at first that Jon Cannon was 'a bit of a wimp for wearing a scarf' till she saw the great strength and agility with which he ran up and down the scaffolding.

        I look forward to it.
