Dear Sam,

I am a new member of the group having joined this year but have been a full-time archaeologist for many years and am currently working for Headland Archaeology, based in Cork in Ireland.

Last year I directed the excavation of a 45-metre wide strip for about 400m through the centre of a deserted medieval village in Co. Kildare, Ireland, in advance of a road construction scheme, finishing site work in December 2007. I would like to submit a report on this to your annual report for 2008 for your consideration. I would suggest a 2000-word report as the site was quite extensive and had quite a lot of idiosyncrasies. I am currently carrying out post-excavation work on it and can easily supply text by the end of May. If you would like to discuss this I can be contacted on (UK) telephone 0207 237 7802, for the next few days, during which time I am reorganizing my broadband internet connection, (although this should be up and running again next week).

I have copied this note to my manager in Cork, so that the archaeologists of the Irish National Roads Authority, our sponsors, may be kept informed.

Regards,

Angus Stephenson

discretion when they relate to rural settlements. Further information about
the MSRG is available here: www.britarch.ac.uk/msrg
