ISG (Scotland) is happy to invite you to a seminar on the working of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002. Our speakers will be:
Sarah Hutchison, Head of Policy and Information, in the Office of the Scottish Information Commissioner. Sarah will be bringing us up to date with recent developments in the FOI(S)A, including how decisions have clarified the principles of the Act. She will also give examples of how people are using the using the Act to gather information from public bodies.
Bruno Longmore, Head of Government Records, National Archives of Scotland (NAS) will tell us how public sector organisations could improve their records management practice by using the s.61 Code of Practice records management workbook, which was developed by the NAS. He will highlight aspects of the development of the workbook, certain practical matters and the advantages of using the workbook as an audit tool.
Our final speaker will be Graeme Hawley, Corporate Information Manager, National Library of Scotland. He will share his views on how the National Library, as a public body, has reacted to the requests for information made under the Act.
There will also be time for questions and problem sharing.
The afternoon will conclude with the ISG(Scotland) AGM, at 16.30 and a wine and nibbles social gathering.
There will be a nominal fee of £3.00 to cover refreshments
Preference will be given to ISG members but other interested individuals may apply.
