Hi all,

The response from NLH on the search query I posted this morning:

We have replicated this issue by searching the Women’s Health Specialist
Library and note that the results provided are nearly all linked into
resources from other collections, i.e. CKS and Cochrane. Basically, if
you search from within a Specialist Library (SL) then the results show
everything the SL have indexed – covering both records they have created
themselves and records their site is linking to from other libraries or
other imported collections, such as Cochrane and CKS.

However when you search a selected SL from the NLH hub page it only
includes records that have been created by that SL and not the ones
their website is linking to from another library or collection. This
prevents duplication of results in a hub page search but, given the
disparity in the number of results returned, it can also look like some
results are missing,

I hope this explains the anomaly. It is something we need to
investigate further as it does make cross-library searching appear
inconsistent, so thank you for your patience whilst we work on this
issue and apologies for any inconvenience caused.

so be warned not to use a cross-library search as a shortcut!

Cheers,
Michelle
