PROJECT OFFICER – NOTTINGHAM URBAN ARCHAEOLOGical DATABASE

£18,907 - £20,736 pa

Temporary for 14 months

Waterworks Building, Brewhouse Yard, Nottingham

Nottingham City Museums & Galleries, working in partnership with English Heritage, are seeking to establish an in-depth Urban Archaeological database for the historic city centre. This will be a vital tool for the future management of the city’s archaeological heritage.

As the Project Officer, you will review the initial project brief and make any necessary changes in conjunction with the management team, before commencing with the data collection and entry.  You will have an understanding of British archaeology within an urban setting, experience of archaeological database systems and knowledge of how they can be combined with layered GIS mapping.

You will also have research and communication skills, be able to work to deadlines, be consistent in your data entry descriptions and will be self motivated. As the City does not have an existing SMR or HER database, you will have a big part to play in shaping the future archaeological planning, management and research within the city.  Training in particular software packages will be provided. Ref: LC3532
