GIS Developer - London
My client, a leading GIS solutions company, is
currently seeking a Junior GIS Developer/Support Analyst as they continue to
expand their operations through continued success.
The company is highly responsive to the needs of its clients and exists only to supply software that is demonstrably beneficial to their operations. Its systems include ideas and enhancements suggested by end users and regular updates are issued providing these new features and other changing requirements. The company regards a software sale as only the start of a business relationship, and provides a highly regarded and well-received support service in addition to offering an extensive range of training options.
Based within the technical team you will be a
reliable and enthusiastic individual looking to perform the dual role of Junior
Developer and Support Administrator. The role will involve discussing problems
or queries with clients and investigating suitable solutions, as well as
assisting with the continuing development of the software. This will include
product-specific procedures such as report and document production, data
importing and exporting and general database configuration. Travel within the UK
to clients premises and user group venues will occasionally be needed.
Daily duties will include
Software development and testing in
accordance with standards
Bespoke work encompassing client specific
additions and database related work
Production and maintenance of software
documentation.
Configuration and installation of software applications for
clients
Setting up and maintaining our own in-house training computers as
well as configuring client datasets for off-site training
First-line
contact from clients for all support issues, generally via phone or email.
Providing technical support and assistance to
end-users.
The ideal candidate will be a computer-literate
graduate with a technical or GIS grounding. An understanding of common database
structures and file types, as well as experience of MapInfo will provide a
distinct advantage. The ideal candidate should possess excellent communication
skills with an aptitude and keenness to learn and develop their programming
skills. Experience of Visual Basic or VBA or MapBasic is essential with some
exposure to RDBMS and web based mapping.
In addition to the basic salary you will also receive critical health and life insurance, contributory pension scheme and a performance related bonus. There is also a share incentive plan should you wish to purchase shares within the parent company.
