The main purpose of the role would be to assist in the completion of a GIS asset survey of all parks and green spaces within Bristol. This will involve site work in a range of places all over the city; from large estates such as Ashton Court to small community open spaces, interspersed with office work. This post-holder will use GPS, pen-tablet PCs and other leading edge technology to map features such as paths, conservation areas, ponds and verges within these sites, so that Bristol’s green spaces can be managed more effectively and efficiently. The post demands direct involvement with green spaces and those who manage them providing a real sense of making a practical difference. The successful applicant will join a GIS Team within the Parks service. Knowledge of ArcView would be an advantage, though those with experience of other industry applications (GIS/CAD) will be considered and trained to use ArcView.
