I’m with Tim on this one. I too have received an unsolicited mail from NumberCheck.co.uk (a MarketingFile.com venture) and I unsubscribed from their mailing list; so they will claim they’ve complied with The Privacy and Electronic Communications (EC Directive) Regulations 2003. Oh this opt-out culture!!!!

On another note, TPS/MPS compliance should be built into every CRM system; however, on-going TPS licence costs £4880+VAT per annum (http://corporate.mpsonline.org.uk/tpsc/html/Cost.asp). So from a risk-management perspective, ICO’s 5K fine, which MarketingFile seems to be threatening people with, isn’t so bad after all!

Complain, name and shame!  And blog!

I've just been spammed by an outfit spouting dire warnings about the TPS, mentioning PECR etc, who want to sell me services to make sure I don't become an infringer myself.

The question: to name or shame, or will that be virus marketing for their service?
