This looks very good but kind of links with my previous post about the
media. A lot of the narratives in the media and in services and communities
are about whats going wrong and fa about what going well got better or
getting better. For example we are not quite sure what to do with all the
older people in our communities because we are the first generation to have
them in these numbers. Fifty years ago average life expectancy was twenty
years lower. An amazing and very positive social change.
The negativity really impacts on peoples interest in and ability to be in
their community? This negativity is true of this site as well? I am not
denying at all that there is a lot that is bad, dreadful, and appalling, but
if this is the only narrative its hopeless and people retreat into their own
worlds or lists? What was interesting about the media thing was the advent
of the net etc which is undermining the grip of the sun etc. Sun circulation
is steadily falling which is something to be very happy about?
