When bureaucracy meets technology.

Case studies in deploying Web technologies to manage and publish corporate
committee records

King's College London, Strand, London 10th June 2008

Committees are common to the governance structures of most organisations
across the public and private sectors. They play a key role in policy
forming and decision making at both strategic and operational levels.

Committee records (agendas, minutes and papers) capture vital corporate
information. They also support public accountability. Many organisations are
subject to statutory duties of disclosure and all public sector bodies are
bound to transparency of decision making under the Freedom of Information
Act.

This free half-day conference in Central London will explore the potential
of Web technologies to manage, circulate and publish committee records
through three highly practical case studies:

*	Nisha Gupta, eCommittees Manager, British Standards Institute
The BSI eCommittees system - a document management system for a diverse and
complex committee structure

*	John Lynch, Head of Democratic Services, Islington Council
Democracy in Islington - a successful initiative to publish committee
information to a wide external audience as a key democratic service

*	Jan Booth, Records and Archives Manager, King's College London
Committee Zone - a project to make the numerous and diverse committee
records of King's more accessible and useable

The conference will start at 10.00am with a free lunch served from 1.00pm.

Places are limited so do register early to avoid disappointment.
