***Apologies for cross-posting*** Registration Reminder 4th DELOS Summer School on 'Digital Libraries and Data Archives: Making Sense of Digital Curation and Preservation 8-14 June 2008 Grand Hotel Continental Tirrenia Tirrenia, Italy http://www.dpc.delos.info/ss08 The DELOS Association on Digital Libraries, Digital Curation Centre (DCC), DigitalPreservationEurope (DPE), and the Feltrinelli Foundation are delighted to announce that we will be delivering our 4th Summer School on preservation in digital libraries from the 8th to the 14th of June 2008 in Tirrenia, Italy. This is the fourth in this series of summer schools with earlier ones held at Sofia Antipolis (2005), San Miniato (2006), and Pisa (2007). Participation in the Summer School assists attendees in understanding how to address digital preservation and curation challenges within the context of digital libraries and data archives. In addition, the Summer School offers participants the opportunity to network with other researchers, international experts, and practitioners across disciplinary and national boundaries. We hope that the audience will be, as it has been in the past, mainly young researchers and professionals with an interest in the topic of digital curation and preservation. This one-week intensive school will consist of nine half-day sessions. Internationally established lecturers will each lead each session and most will be available through the week for further discussion. To view the course timetable, please see http://www.dpc.delos.info/ss08/. Venue The Grand Hotel Continental in Tirrenia is located on the fabulous golden sand beaches about ten kilometres from Pisa with a pine graced nature reserve nearby and views of the mountains. Tirrenia has frequent public connections to Pisa itself. The rooms for lectures and breakout groups provide an evocative and pleasant atmosphere. Onsite accommodation is available. Registration University students, PhD students and postdoctoral researchers can access a limited number of DCC, Feltrinelli Foundation, HATII, or DPE sponsored student bursaries which cover tuition fees, single-occupancy accommodation, and full-board at the conference venue. These bursaries will be granted on a first come, first served policy. Please refer to our bursary terms and conditions for more details. http://www.dpc.delos.info/ss08/payment.php The summer school is also open to practitioners in the field.
