I share your concerns, Jenny. How one uses a quiz is very important - I do
not see them/use them as stand alone instruments that allow one to tick the
box, rather as a prompt for discussions which lead people to a greater
awareness and understanding of the issues.

Dear all

I'm following this discussion. I don't have a quiz to contribute, but may I
share a worry? I'm currently investigating E&D e-learning packages (any
hints from colleagues welcome!) and have found some of their quizzes a bit
offputting. Some of them are fact-based, asking questions like 'how many
people from new EU countries currently work in the UK?' which seem,
cumulatively, to be trying to probe prejudices - if you get them wrong, does
it suggest that you are a racist? (I get them wrong because I'm not
number-friendly!). This doesn't apply to Fiona's questions, by the way, but
even so, I think it's more important to have questions which get people to
think about concepts not numbers. I'm tempted to try to draft some, but I
have to get back to the job in hand.

Enc, was round the time of our Gender Equality Scheme hence slight bias on
gender questions, but not sure if quizzes of general interest? Perhaps we
need some guidelines when queries are of universal interest and when we need
to reply off list? Quiz might need some updating re most current stats.

team training session on E&D? Grateful for any contributions....
