"Original Sin"

Wednesday, 2 April 2008 5:00 pm
Harrison Auditorium, Penn Museum
Entrance on 33rd Street, South of Spruce

Perhaps no origin has been as central to Western thinking as Original
Sin.
Who better to explain its significance than acclaimed biblical
scholar Elaine Pagels?

In several of her bestselling works, she examines how Christians
reinterpreted the
Genesis story to emphasize the sinfulness of human nature, how the
creation myth
influenced the development of sexual attitudes in the Christian West,
and how
politics influenced the development of the devil as a figure of evil.
