Supporting the Delivery of Disability Equality for Disabled Staff

 

The recent report by the Commission for Disabled Staff in Lifelong Learning has highlighted the institutional discrimination against disabled people working in the further and higher education sectors. Many employees are reportedly reluctant to disclose impairments or disabling medical conditions because they fear discrimination. A culture of low aspiration exists among disabled staff, exacerbated by a systematic failure to address their requirements according to the report. Above all, the Commission found a lack of consistency in employment practices relating to disabled staff.

 

We would like to draw your attention to a range of services provided by IMPACT Associates to support the delivery of disability equality for disabled staff. If you are not involved in providing services for disabled staff yourself, we would be most grateful if you could forward this email to the people in your organisation who are.
