ARLIS' Visual Resources Committee has organised a trip to the BBC Information & Archives, White City, London on Monday 19th May from 2pm- 5.30pm. “BBC Information & Archives are set up to support production areas with information, audio, TV recordings and visual images required to make their programmes. As well as holding the BBC TV and Radio programme archives, Information & Archives manages a commercial music collection covering all musical genres, a news and photograph archive and sheet music collection. They also look after the BBC’s programme documentation and their research teams also undertake information research enquiries utilising a host of online and hardcopy sources.” The visit will include a tour of both the Television and Broadcast Centres, including News Media Management, Stills Unit, Sheet Music and Fast Store. We will also hear presentations from research and cataloguing staff.
