Archives assistants/Graduate trainees

Lambeth Palace Library, the historic library and archive of the Archbishops of Canterbury, invites applications for two posts of Archives Assistant, on one-year fixed term contracts (starting July or August 2008), suitable for those seeking a year's experience before undertaking a postgraduate course in archives management. Duties will include assisting in the Reading Room, enquiry work, and creating catalogue records using CALM for Archives.

Candidates must have a good honours degree in the humanities (or expect to achieve one this summer), good IT and communication skills, and the ability to work unsupervised and as a member of a team.  Archival experience would be useful, but it is more important that the successful candidates should be prepared to master a wide range of duties, both routine and professional, with application and enthusiasm.

Salary will be £17,810 p.a. (under review).
