Senior Policy Adviser (full-time)

£29,976 - £36,637 per annum

 

Equality Challenge Unit supports the UK higher education sector in promoting equality and diversity for all staff and students.

We wish to appoint a Senior Policy Adviser to lead the Unit’s equality work on disability.

 

The Senior Policy Adviser will work within the Unit’s policy team, assisted by the Policy Adviser for disability, to research and develop a range of projects addressing different aspects of equality for disabled staff and students within the higher education sector.  The post holder will also be expected to work on projects relating to other equality areas. 

 

Responsibilities will include:

·       providing leadership on and undertaking on disability projects for ECU and within the remit of the Disability Equality Partnership;

·       acting as the first point of contact regarding media coverage of disability issues;

·       presenting and facilitating workshops and representing the organisation at external events;

·       researching and analysing information and drafting publications;

·       working closely and collaboratively with partners and other sector organisations, dealing with enquiries, and responding to equality related consultations.

 

We are looking for applicants with enthusiasm and judgement, with a good first degree or equivalent and a background in equality and diversity, including disability.

Benefits include 25 days holiday per year, plus Bank Holidays and 6 additional days, flexi-time and final salary pension scheme.
