Dear Mark, please, find attached an unpublished deliverable of the Urbaneye project about the findings of a quantitative survey in European capitals. Moreover, you´ll find two reports which also include findings from qualitative interviews on the Urbaneye website: Working Paper No. 12: Public opinion on CCTV in the Norwegian capital Oslo by Ann Rudinow Saetnan, Johanne Yttri Dahl and Heidi Mork Lomell (January 2004) This paper presents the findings of a high street survey in which 218 people in the centre of Oslo were asked for their knowledge of and their attitudes towards CCTV. http://www.urbaneye.net/results/ue_wp12.pdf Working Paper No. 13: What people think about CCTV in Berlin by Frank Helten and Bernd Fischer (February 2004) The paper presents the findings of a quantitative and qualitative survey in which people in Berlin where asked for their knowledge and opinions about CCTV, and finally discusses the question whether CCTV affects the everyday behaviour of the urban population. http://www.urbaneye.net/results/ue_wp13.pdf Cheers, Eric -----Ursprüngliche Nachricht----- Von: Research and teaching on surveillance [mailto:[log in to unmask]] Im Auftrag von Mark Ballard Gesendet: Mittwoch, 6. (23 page .pdf) http://www.icmresearch.co.uk/pdfs/2008_january_info_commission_cctv_poll.pdf That roughly 30 per cent of Brits actually "support the use of Close Circuit Television cameras that can record your conversations". The ICO has made much of the fact that around 70 per cent of pepole were opposed. But this 30 per cent is much more interesting, IMHO. Can anyone suggest any sources of information that might provide an insight into why certain people think this way? Other studies? Interest groups in support of such things? Mark. **************************************************** This is a message from the SURVEILLANCE listserv for research and teaching in surveillance studies.
