Vacancy for Deputy Records Manager 

Governance Support Unit, Durham University
Salary: £27,466 - £32,796 per annum
Grade: Grade 7 
Contract: Non fixed-term, Full-time
Hours: 35 hours per week

The role of Deputy Records Manager is an exciting new post created to manage and develop the University's service to provide responses to information requests received under information access legislation. You will undertake detailed preparatory project work to establish new corporate physical records management storage systems and electronic records management systems then proactively manage those systems to ensure effective, efficient and economic management of the University's records. You will also proactively promote excellence in managing the University's records by using your specialist professional knowledge and experience to drive forward change in these important developing functions. In carrying out these responsibilities, you will work closely with colleagues in the University's Governance Support Unit and senior and administrative staff across the University.

Previous relevant experience in records, information, archives or library management is essential. A relevant postgraduate qualification is desirable, although the University will consider providing the successful applicant with appropriate development opportunities, such as support to pursue a postgraduate qualification.

Please note that as part of the current 3 year pay agreement the salary scale for this post will increase by 3% in May 2008 and 2.5% in October 2008. The post is subject to standard probationary terms. Further information will be issued in the contract of employment. 

Pension: Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS) 
Holidays: 30 working days' holiday plus statutory holidays, and 4 'customary' holidays, normally allocated to the Christmas break
