To the suggestions made by professor Edgar Francis about whichcraft in
Saudi Arabia and the Gulf, I would add:
Eleanor Abdella Doumato, Getting God's Ear: Women, Islam, and Healing in
Saudi Arabia and the Gulf. New York: Columbia University Press, 2000;
and Remke Kruk, "Harry Potter in the Gulf: Contemporary Islam and the
Occult". British Journal of Middle Eastern Studies, 32 (2005), pp.
47-73.

A good starting point is: Magic and Divination in Early Islam, edited by
Emilie Savage-Smith. Aldershot: Ashgate, 2004 (Formation of the
classical Islamic world, V. 42.) and searching at "index islamicus"
under "witchcraft", "magic", "occult sciences", and other similar
key-words. "Healing" and "medicine" could be helpful as well, for
example: Gerda Sengers. Women and Demons: Cult Healing in Islamic Egypt.
Leiden: Brill, 2003; and, of course, Majnun: The Madman in Medieval
Islamic Society, by Michael W. Dols. Oxford: Clarendon Press, 1992.
[Boaz Shoshan's review of Dols, "The State and Madness in Medieval
Islam", International Journal of Middle East Studies, 35 (2003), pp.
329-340, might be useful for its methodological approach.]

Science, Tools & Magic (Nasser D. Khalili Collection of Islamic Art, V.
12) includes some intersting information and photos of magic-medicinal
bowls.

Best,
Liran
