Education and Outreach Officer: Web Learning

Three-year fixed-term post

£23,172–£30,704 per annum

Would you like to work alongside Charles Darwin, Lord Byron and Jane Austen?

A unique and exciting opportunity to help bring to life one of the world’s
literary treasures has arisen from the National Library of Scotland's
acquisition of the John Murray Archive <http://www.nls.uk/jma/index.html>
(1768-1920). The archive comprises over 150,000 items, featuring some of the
greatest writers of the 19th century. We are looking for someone who can
bring this literary treasure to life online for 21st century users.

You will plan and deliver a wide range of innovative and accessible
web-based learning resources, interpretation and access initiatives, based
on the John Murray Archive and the Library's wider collections, to diverse
online audiences. A creative and flexible approach to learning, knowledge of
best practice in and experience of developing resources using learning
technologies are all essential.

You will take a lead on the development of content for web features and
e-learning applications designed to provide access to material digitised
from the John Murray Archive. You will be an innovative problem-solver, with
a proven ability to create content that meets defined quality and access
standards. It is essential that you have an understanding of the principles
of web usability and accessibility and knowledge of the current educational
sector. An understanding of the cultural or library sector would be an
advantage.
